Art Journal: Exhaustipated! - VLVS!

Exhaustipated - VLVS!

Hi friends! It's my turn over at VLVS! blog today to share a creation. It's almost december and all the year end holidays are coming up and for me it's always such a tough month. The business of the festivities, hustle and bustle to buy presents (buyer's stress) does not mix well with my Seasonal Affective Disorder, so I just feel sooo tired just thinking about all these busy days ahead and dealing with the lack of sunlight which is a much needed fuel for my body. Often people think I am a real Grinch when I let these feelings out, but it's not about not wanting to celebrate. Being forced to be happy about the holiday season while I'm dealing with some tough things on a physical and emotional level, sometimes just takes its toll and I rather be honest about it than fake going through being "happy camper" about "this festive season".

Anyhow, I didn't had a word for this feeling until the brilliant people at VLVS! came up with this awesome word stamp "Exhaustipated: too tired to give a shit." and OH MY what a relief it was to create this art journal page about what I am feeling! So cathartic and meditative. Also this woman stamp is just my avatar around these winter days. To see the process of this page, I invite you to go to my blogpost at VLVS! HERE which also includes a list of other VLVS! stamps I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by and if you have any sort of similar feelings about this topic, let me know, so we can support each other in solidarity. Wishing you a wonderful day!

Silently Correcting your Grammar - VLVS!

correcting your grammar VLVS!

Hi all, it's my turn at the VLVS! blog today and I am sharing this postcard I made. If you have been following me for a while, you know I like to take the "tongue in cheek" approach to conventional celebrations (and really almost everything else in life ;) . With Halloween coming up, I thought about the most horrifying thing to "dress up as", and that would be a "belittling know it all" - far more annoyingly terrifying than any monster in my book! ;)

VLVS! has these AMAZING text stamps and the "I am silently correcting your grammar" is one of my favorites. To see which other stamps I used and know how I made this card, I cordially invite you to check out my post on the VLVS! blog :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Art Journal: Supernova Bear

Art Journal: supernova bear

Today I wanted to share with you a fun and quirky art journal page I made using watercolors and the "magic ink" technique combined with stencils. It's a fairly simple process but you have to work quickly like I have described in that blogpost. I used india ink and red and orange fountain pen inks. Sadly memory fails me which fountain pen inks I used, but it were samples I needed to use up, I'm sure!

Art Journal: supernova bear
The sentiment is remixed from this Viva las VegaStamps! sentiment stamp and I have made it say "Shine like the FREAKING AWESOME SPARKLY RIDICULOUS SUPERNOVA-SELF you are meant to be"  which I lined with Stabilo marks-all pencils in black and white.

This page definitely fits the theme "Poetry in motion" over at Art Journal Journey wouldn't you agree?  Every time I look at this page it just makes me giggle :)  Hope it does the same for you!

I am also entering this in the HLS august watercolor challenge with optional twist Bloom -
and it's a play on words as I see this as "blooming into what you are meant to be" :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome weekend!

It has inspired me to make the following

Mail Art Monday: Fancy a Cuppa?

fancy a cuppa

Today I'm sharing a card for coffee lovers, made with VLVS! (the cup and saying) and the splats are from Marianne Design I think. The background is done with Tim Holtz Oxide ink walnut stain and stamped with as well. I also used Staz-on Timber brown. The cup is colored with tombow markers and I placed a lady next to it which is a cut out from a vintage magazine. Found some "atomic age" icon stamps and stamped those as well. created a border with washitape and a krink marker. Sealed it off with Modge Podge shimmering gold. Fun, simple and effective!

Over the weekend I have played with the new Oxide ink colors (so fun and BRIGHT!) and got a fun project to share with you tomorrow :)

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Mail Art Monday: Sewn with love and happiness

Happiness

On today's Mail Art Monday I am sharing another piece from the Masterboard cut out series. I think I have only 4-5 pieces left to work on from that large cut on. This part of the collage had the sewing machine stickers on it and I have chosen to go with that theme. I used some great stitching lines from VLVS!; Sawtooth stitching lines and Stitching lines The squiggle heart suited this imagery well so I used that as well on random places and in the middle. I gave the center of the heart a pop of red color. I've used water soluble crayons over this piece and a fixative spray to water proof it a bit.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenge;

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day :)

Mail Art Monday: walking on sunshine

Mail art Monday

It's Monday and I've got another fun envelope to show you for this week's Mail Art Monday. I was experimenting with some fluorite colors which are a bit outside my comfort zone. But I received these Golden High Flow acrylics in an Art Snacks Box and I played around with the yellow a bit.
The base of the envelope is coated with different distress paints which I had left over on my palette. I just rolled them on with a brayer. Then stamped some fun mixed media stamps from VLVS! with Staz-on inks. The script stamp is from Paper Artsy. I kept the center of the envelope clear from stamping and added a white circle with pearl accents puffy paint. Then I splattered some of that fluorite yellow paint with a thin paintbrush. The focal image is from Stampotique Originals, Freidrich tries Ballet, which I have stamped on sticker paper, fussy cut and adhered to the envelope. The hills he is walking on are made from dylusions stamps on book paper I received in a swap. I have sprayed some Lindy's over it to give it some color. I had cut out the hills and adhered to the page before I placed Freidrich on. Oh and I stamped him on first too so the little details like shoe laces were already there. Lastly I placed a home made faux postage stamp (the kitty is from Jip en Janneke stamp set from the HEMA) which I have made from really old/vintage stick on labels. They are the perfect size for Faux postage! A little stamping of postage marks and it's done!

Hope you enjoyed this colorful envelope and don't forget about the BLOGHOP we're having on Stampotique to celebrate the new release and DT announcement. You can enter until July 7th for fun prizes :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Mail Art Monday: Received Swaps Feature VLVS!

Hey friends, on today's Mail Art Monday, I wanted to do something different. You have seen me reveal all the swaps I sent, but I am sure you are also wondering about the swaps I receive. Well I thought it would be fun to periodically show some fun envies I get in the mail from talented artists out there. Today I am featuring some envies I got in the mail from our Viva Las VegasGroupies swap on facebook from last month. It was a color these with grey and blue and you could only use VLVS! images.

Received this wonderful piece of #mailart from my @vivalasvegastamps DT-mate Shanna! It's super gorgeous and that banksy quote stamp is on my wishlist for sure! We have monthly swaps going on at our FB group, Viva Las Vegastamps Groupies if you want to c

This lovely envelope was made by my fellow DT member Shanna Shands.  I love the gorgeous airy feel it has and the quote stamp from Banksy is just fantastic! By the way, the fountain pen on this envelope which I used to cover my address is the Sailor Pro Gear Slim Four Seasons Haruzora Sky Blue.

Received mail art from Stuff by Belle
This envelope is sent to me by Michele Kosciolek (also our swap host of the group) and I love the circular theme she used and that vintage image on the top left corner is beautifully placed. I actually ordered this stamp as well as it's such a great image. The fountain pen I used to cover my address here is the Edison Nouveau Premier Spring edition 2017 Seaglass from Goulet Pens Co.

Thanks so much ladies fro your wonderful swaps :) Also be sure to check out our Mail Art Monday posts over at Viva Las VegaStamps! to see tutorials and join our groupies FB page to be notified for monthly swaps!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

ATC: Be True

Be True ATC
This is an ATC I made inspired by one of the many wonderful and inspiring process video's Jenn Engle has on her You Tube. In this video she uses letter stickers on her art journal background for extra texture and serendipitous design. I loved the idea so much I created an ATC using some number letters stickers of which I have so many and almost never use!

Be True ATC

I've used one of my fave butterfly stencils and next to it I added the numbers in a cascading flow over the stencil design. Then gessoed the piece with white gesso and then around the edges with black gesso. In the white parts I dripped some Roher and Klinger calligraphy ink in Alt Goldgrün and Cyan Blau. The calligraphy ink is thicker and has a shellac base so it clung to the gesso pretty well. I did spritz some water over it to get it to dilute and flow better over the raised edges. The sentiment Bue True (from VLVS!) was well as the butterfly was stamped on a left over piece of water color paper, and before I adhered it with pop up dots I spattered some white and magenta ink over the card. I added some threads in the same colors around the popped up aria's, edged the card with white ink and matted it onto black card stock.

I really loved using the stickers this way and with definitely use this technique again :) Thanks again for the inspiration Jenn :)

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Stamps and stencils fabric and fibers
Stamping sensations May Butterflies, fairies and fantasy
STAMPlorations Mixed Media Challenge May
