Mail Art Monday: Sewn with love and happiness

On today's Mail Art Monday I am sharing another piece from the Masterboard cut out series. I think I have only 4-5 pieces left to work on from that large cut on. This part of the collage had the sewing machine stickers on it and I have chosen to go with that theme. I used some great stitching lines from VLVS!; Sawtooth stitching lines and Stitching lines The squiggle heart suited this imagery well so I used that as well on random places and in the middle. I gave the center of the heart a pop of red color. I've used water soluble crayons over this piece and a fixative spray to water proof it a bit.

Mail Art Monday - Celebrate!

Hi friends, hope you all had an amazing weekend and a wonderful fathers day yesterday. It's monday so I have another fun project to share for this week's Mail Art Monday. It's a postcard from my Scrap Collage master board series. So this piece is cut from that huge master board  which I showed you a while back. This is piece 5 I think... I have been working on many at the same time so I lost track of how many pieces I made already. Anyhow, this one I had not added much to except for some color and stars. I used some white gesso over the card leaving out the Lady (which is from Carmen's Veranda) and then added some color with Marubu watersoluble crayons. I then took a yellow sharpie and scribbled in some starry texture with a STAMPlorations stencil (which I won from last month's challenge, yay!), then added some star sticker, spatters with white gesso and a black border with a Krink Marker. Love how the image of the woman just pops out.

MailART Monday: The right side of the brain

A colorful and bright postcard for the beginning of May! I really hope that spring weather will hit soon and the flowers will bloom and warmth will shine through, like it does on this card. It's another of my Masterboard collage pieces and while I have made this piece initially to send out for a swap, I decided to keep it in one of my art journals. It rarely happens I can't let a piece go, but with this, I think it's the color combo and the meaning behind it... much like this journal page was to inspire oneself to be true. 

The face was stamped on the gelli print I had used in the collage background, I stamped it again on sticker paper and colored it in with promarkers and only stuck on the face part on the right. The sentiment stamp on the left side and added the same text with Molotow paint marker in white on the right. I also did the drips with that. Added some pops of colors with Caran d'Ache neopastels.

MailART Monday: Possibility

This week I have another postcard to share from my masterboard cut out series. It's number 3 of the series. This one has a lot of trims from my other projects. The most notable ones would be from Processing Poppies and Bee happy. Possibility is a leftover from this journal lay out and the stamp "Flying Mona"is from Lost Coast Designs. Out of my DT time at LCD this was one of my faves from the new releases :) Super fun and quirky! The only thing I added extra was color to the image, lots of ink splatters in magenta and gold and marked the edges with a gold pen. This one is on it's way to my partner for a Springtime swap over at Swap-Bot.

MailART Monday: A little bit of Kindness

On today's Mail Art Monday I wanted to share a postcard I made from my large masterboard scrap collage. It's great fun to see how all these pieces come together as individual postcards. I adhered the cut up cardboard piece (2 of 13 pieces, see piece number 1 here) onto a tourist postcard with sturdy adhesive and washi tape. Also a great way to use up all your left over postcards you don't know what to do with :) On my desk I still had some stamped words and chose "kindness" and a butterfly to add the to the card. After I sealed it with Modge Podge gold shimmer varnish, I spattered some liquitex inks in magenta over it. Lastly I made "all we need is a little bit of" with my dymo label maker and stuck it to the card. I thought it definitely finishes the piece.

It kinda looked empty without it as you can see above. This card was sent for a swap on Swap-Bot and I hope the recipient will like it. It's good to send out a little kindness every day, don't you agree?

MailART Monday: Every day, be true. Be you.

Slowly but surely I am working on that huge stack of postcards I showed you last a few weeks ago in WIP wednesday. This is the first card I finished from the pile and hopefully I can show you finished cards here on a weekly basis. This message that came about spontaneously has a special ring to my heart. Every day, be courageous and be true to yourself. I absolutely love how this turned out and I am hoping my partner for a swapbot swap whom I sent it to will appreciate it as well. 

About the materials I used: the moth is from Paper Artsy, the days stamps is from Carabelle studios, Be true sentiment is from VLVS! The rest I filled in with a Hema typewriter font alphabetbet stamp. Spatters are done with Liquitex and Daler and Rowney INKS and a Uniposca white paint marker.

WIP: Scrap collage challenge

Last week on MailART monday, I told you about that 30 minutes challenge. Well it really got me going and I have made a few scrap postcard collages in a few sittings! This is what my desk looks like in the mess of all things collage! I love the messy desk and the wonderful creations that can follow by just randomly placing some found scraps!

On one had I am really glad I keep paper scraps and don't throw them away after a project, so I can assemble new projects with them. But on the other hand I have now 2 boxes full of scraps like the one above!! So I decided to challenge myself and make more mixed media art collage postcards by using these scraps only to try and at least clear out one box this year!

When one of my desk blotters got empty I kept the cardboard and I have created this huge A2 sized collage piece with bunch of scraps from the box. Also a great way to make a dent in your Modge Podge for sure!

To illustrate Meesha is lovingly posing in front of the collage to indicate its size (in reality I placed the piece behind her while she was dozing off... she doesn't look too amused that I disturbed her sleep, LOL!).



So I have cut them out into postcards which was tough cutting into all these layers and didn't go without trouble!


On the 13th postcard ( I kid you not!) this happened! Oh well, thankfully I have about 8 scissors, but I will definitely miss this one as it had a large handle. RIP sweet scissors, you will be missed..

Anyhow, so the plan is to work more on the PC's to get them to have their own individual glow. If you like to receive one, please feel free to put your mailing address in my postable address book. I like sending surprise mail out to people :)

I at least have created a bit of a dent in one of the boxes, but still have a long, long way to go!

Mailart Monday: Masterboard Inspiration (+giveaway!)

Last week I showed you a group shot of outgoing mail and I wanted to show you a closer look of the Masterboard Inspiration cards I made for this swap on swapbot.

First let me answer "what is a masterboard?" I think Ann in this blogpost on Wonderstange says it best "a masterboard is a great big multi-layered background that you cut up to make smaller pieces: postcards (4″x6″), ATCs (3.5″x2.5″), inchies (1″x1″), chunkies (4″x4″), and other forms of mailart with fun names." And that is exactly what I did when making the cards below.

I took an A4 page which was already party covered in ink residue and stamped with large back ground stamps, layered with stencils and paint and then cut them up into 4 pieces. I chose to pair the portrait stamps from Carmen's Veranda with Lost Coast Designs dictionary words and create 4 inspiration mail art cards. I stamped them all with Staz-On black but it wasn't black enough for my liking, so I traced the images with a sharpie to make it more pronounced black.

In the end I also spattered some liquid acrylics in gold, bronze, silver metallic and white onto the cards to make it more interesting. What I love about masterboards is that you cam make a lot of cards in a small amount of time.

The bottom two already were mailed out for the swap, but the top two I still have available and I decided to do a fun giveaway for them.
