Art Journal: Exhaustipated! - VLVS!

Exhaustipated - VLVS!

Hi friends! It's my turn over at VLVS! blog today to share a creation. It's almost december and all the year end holidays are coming up and for me it's always such a tough month. The business of the festivities, hustle and bustle to buy presents (buyer's stress) does not mix well with my Seasonal Affective Disorder, so I just feel sooo tired just thinking about all these busy days ahead and dealing with the lack of sunlight which is a much needed fuel for my body. Often people think I am a real Grinch when I let these feelings out, but it's not about not wanting to celebrate. Being forced to be happy about the holiday season while I'm dealing with some tough things on a physical and emotional level, sometimes just takes its toll and I rather be honest about it than fake going through being "happy camper" about "this festive season".

Anyhow, I didn't had a word for this feeling until the brilliant people at VLVS! came up with this awesome word stamp "Exhaustipated: too tired to give a shit." and OH MY what a relief it was to create this art journal page about what I am feeling! So cathartic and meditative. Also this woman stamp is just my avatar around these winter days. To see the process of this page, I invite you to go to my blogpost at VLVS! HERE which also includes a list of other VLVS! stamps I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by and if you have any sort of similar feelings about this topic, let me know, so we can support each other in solidarity. Wishing you a wonderful day!

Silently Correcting your Grammar - VLVS!

correcting your grammar VLVS!

Hi all, it's my turn at the VLVS! blog today and I am sharing this postcard I made. If you have been following me for a while, you know I like to take the "tongue in cheek" approach to conventional celebrations (and really almost everything else in life ;) . With Halloween coming up, I thought about the most horrifying thing to "dress up as", and that would be a "belittling know it all" - far more annoyingly terrifying than any monster in my book! ;)

VLVS! has these AMAZING text stamps and the "I am silently correcting your grammar" is one of my favorites. To see which other stamps I used and know how I made this card, I cordially invite you to check out my post on the VLVS! blog :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

MailART Monday: From the desk of Cheetarah

Last week on the VLVS! blog I shared a little tutorial for you to personalize your store bought postcards and I am sharing that with you here today. I love buying and sending postcards and have a stack of them to send out, but what really irks me a lot about postcards, sometimes there is no address placement lines or message box on the back.

As you can see with the Monet Art postcard here, the back is totally blank and boring. So what I did to help brighten these up is to decorate sheets of blank sticker paper that are already cut into 4 A5 (postcard) size in a mail art theme.

I used all these wonderful mail art related stamps from Viva LasVegaStamps! and Memento rubber stamp inks. I invite you to go to my blogpost over at VLVS! to see the whole tutorial.

There are more MailART Monday makes and tutorials every monday from my fellow DT members there!

Also our march challenge is up, so don't forget to link your makes inspired by the gorgeous inspiration board and words.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Dandelion Breeze - VLVS! January Inspiration

I'm back on the VLVS! inspiration blog this week with a card I wanted to share based on our challenge this month.

This is the mood board for our january challenge. Nice vintage looking style and colors.

And inspiration words like foliage, flowers, weeds, nature, bugs, moths, butterflies, wings, numbers, script, invoice, background stamps, vintage, tan, black, white, brown, distressed, grungy,... made me dig up some great VLVS! images to work with. A full list of stamps and other items I used are listed below.

I worked on thick vellum paper on which I used a circle stencil and light and fluffy modeling paste. Then went on to distress it with brownish Distress inks to get that vintage look going. The vellum is nice and smooth so you can get a great transition into colors. The main image I used for this card is Blowing Dandelion and Extra Seed by Susan M. Brown which I stamped twice. First with Staz-On timbre brown and then with versamark ink to emboss it in a golden honey pearl color. The timber brown stamped image gives a nice shadow effect under the embossed image. Then I used Postcards ATC size and other fun stamps for more interest. The sentiment "she flies with her own wings" is a part of this stamp by Cat Kerr which I thought would be fitting to add here. I also stamped this sentiment twice to get a shadow effect.

After I matted the card on cream paper and adhered onto a black card (which I used Miracle Tape for!)
I also embossed the dandelion and sentiment on the envelope, which is also in a honey pearl cream color.

They make a classy pair, the card and envelope and is ready to be written on and mailed out!

The Crafter's Workshop Light and Fluffy Modeling paste
