Art Studio tour and StencilGirl® storage idea

Over at StencilGirl® Talk this month the creative team share their studio/creative spaces and talk about stencil storage solutions. And it's been a while since I shared pictures of my studio, so here is a peek of what it looks like.

This is my art desk, where I do most of my creative work and have a LOT of stuff going on here which I like to have in reach. Cups with brushes, pens, glue, paper, media etc. I have a different mug for different types of brushes - the Bowie mug holds all my watercolor brushes for example. And the i-pod dock is important - I always have music on when I am working on art journals. Thankfully I'm pretty good at keeping my work surface clean after a project and the blue traveler's notebook has the art journal I am currently working in.

This is what it looks like when you open the door to my home studio - in our apartment we're lucky enough to each have our separate spaces for our creative work. So this room is packed to the brim with art stuff & I  even make good use of the window sill :)

On the other side I have my writing desk which is packed with planners and notebooks. And of course fountain pens. The one thing I do not have here is a computer because I prefer to keep my studio as analog as possible. I also try to leave my phone out but as it's also my camera it's a bit difficult to maintain that.

When you step to the right from that angle and face the wall you see my rubber stamp storage, wood mounted stamps. The clear/cling stamps are stored in ring binders. The open boxes contains media sprays and the tins have pigment powders. The lover cabinets placed together make a good extra work surface I use for spray/emboss/die cut work.

In the drawer cabinets (which were gifted to me by dear friends whom moved away) I store items such as paints, mediums, masking tapes etc. Every drawer has a specific use and are all labeled. 

Last thing I wanted to show is a shelf above my writing desk where I store my little collection of Cheetara of the Thundercats toys/figurines :) The one on the far right is an original one of the 1980's. I also have a few prints of her and love getting her drawn by various (comic) illustrators.

Meesha Monday: July/August edition (and winners of the MM giveaway!)

It's high time for another Meesha Monday post. This sweetheart has been an excellent nurse to me while I was recovering from the bronchitis infection. She never left my side! Also at the end of the cute kitty picture spam I am announcing the winners of the Masterboard Mailart Monday giveaway. So read on if you want to know if you are one of them :)

Sleeping next to me while all I could do was either lay down on the bed or pass out on the couch.

There were not many hot days, but when it was too much to bare she was just tuckered out and laying flat on the floor. She and the fan are not best buds but she can appreciate a cool breeze from afar.

She likes sleeping in the tubs/tiles, and this was just the funniest sight ever!!

I made some closet space for her in my art room and I love it that she joins me when I am working on my stuff there.

Meesha Monday - May/June edition

For the better part of last week I was at home sick with the flue and my sweetie Meesha was being so adorably cute and comforting! I also realized it was high time for a Meesha update here. Enjoy the pictures :)

Sleeping on the couch...

like there isn't a care in the world!

Also sleeps on the carpet, on notebooks we can't use at the moment because it's functioning as a pillow!

OMG soft paw!!

She found an ergonomically fit bed for her, an ikea lap table but reversed!



Here she is comforting me when I felt so miserable and sat with me on the couch pretty much the whole day.

She slept an entire day on our PC work chair. 
Well, thankfully phones have the interwebs now too!

What! I don't only sleep, I like to sit in the box and stare at you while working too!

Life with a cat is so much more fun!

Meesha Mailart Monday - the birthday edition

A little over 2 months ago this little cutie came into our lives. From the get go she was a sweet and curious kitty and we are grateful to have her in our lives. Today she turns 2 years old and we are celebrating that with a Meesha Mailart Monday post today :) 

I started out on applying amsterdam aqua paint on scrapbook paper with help from a brayer. It gave the page a lovely base color and images from the paper shows through slightly which makes it more interesting. Then I stamped Carmen's Veranda's Grunge Back Ground stamp in parts on each of the corners alternating with Hydregena blue and Cherry red ink from Staz-On. I placed a zig-zag stencil over it and dabbed on yellow Amsterdam paint through it. I also smudged the edges with yellow paint. The Lost Coast Designs cat stamp and other elements I stamped on a separate paper and I colored with Tombow markers and cut out. I also stamped the cat in the middle of the page to get the furry part and whiskers on. Adhered the cut out pieces over it and added some white with a gel pen over whiskers and the black parts of the fur. The hat is from party hat set, I stuck on a sticker over the 1 and added 2 with a white gel pen. The balloons are from"balloons over Alberquerque" stamp and doodled the strings with a black marker. Stamped the sentiment Happy Birthday from "Party Words" on white paper with staz-on black, cut out, adhered to the page and doodled on the edges. To finish it off I stamped a doodle boarder stamp on the edges of the piece.

I love how this piece came together and the kitty sorta does resemble Messha a bit :)

When I was organizing my Tombow dual brushpens the other day Messha was a sweetie and helped me out :)

Meesha Monday

Well a little deviation from my Mail Art Monday posts because I have been super distracted lately... This little lady came into our lives last week Friday and I am completely smitten...

Her name is Meesha and we adopted her from the local Shelter. She is nearly 2 years old and such a sweetheart! And happy to report that she is adjusting well to her new life with us.

On her first day meeting her new human companions...

She already likes to snuggle with us on the couch...

And living the luxury life...

Seeing that she is settling in nicely, I am sure I will be posting my regular Mail Art Monday posts again from next week on. And sometimes post a cat picture here and there in the mix :D
