Shopping Highlight: a stationery tour through Berlin

Last month we had a little city trip to Berlin, Germany with my husband and in-law family. Of course I also had to look up some great stationery stores there and in this post I would like to share the ones I visited. It's going to be picture heavy visual tour from here out which I hope you will enjoy.

First off is Luiban on the Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 28. It's a neatly organized stationery shop that carries brands like Kaweco, Midori, Traveler's Notebook items, Masking tape and even TWSBI and Noodler's fountain pens and a few inks. The staff is really helpful and friendly and while store isn't all that big, it's packed full with color happy goods, all arranged in a beautiful way.

And this back wall had inks, wax seals and more stationery supplies. What I also liked about the store that the items are packaged with care and the bill is an old fashioned hand written kind :)

Moving further in the city we went to R.S.V.P. Mitte near the Hackesche Höfe (where also Muji and Moleskine Stores are located). This particular store has 2 locations right across from each other on the same street and the cute fox magnet holder caught my eye. They have a wonderful assortment of paper, pens, masking tape, wrapping papers and other unique little gifts in both locations. Sadly when we were there it was nearing closing time so I didn't take many pictures of the store, but here are a few taken from their website.

Notebooks and note cards and pens in the other location. The staff are also really helpful and friendly (in fact most of the staff we encountered in stores are super helpful and friendly!) and when we asked if they new a place to eat nearby, they suggested Shiso Burgers, a Japanese burger place and oh boy, it was yummy indeed!

Delicious, affordable and fun vibe - a great stop for a quick dinner bite.

In the days that followed we visited the following shops:

Papeterie Heinrich Künnemann on the UhlandStraße 28 (a side street on the Kurfürstendamm) which is a  fairly larger shop and carry high end brands like Montblanc, Pelikan, Montegrappa, Caran d'ache and Graf von Faber Castell. They have a large selection pens, ink and other stationery goods.

Also fun to take a look while you're there; a couple of blocks away is the KaDeWe and on their stationery department they have a similar selection of modern luxury fountain pens. 

A little stroll from the KaDeWe lies Morgana on the WinterfeldtStraße 46 near the Nollendorfplatz. The website doesn't give you much detail, but it provides you with enough information and leaves you with curiosity to actually visit the shop. And you won't be disappointed if you do!

This was in the window display. Art supplies, fountain pens and inks. I'm sure you're not suprised why this is my fave store of the bunch ;) These are the kind of pies that invite me in to indulge in my ink-aholic behavior ;)

And pens esp Kaweco, Sailor and Pelikans. And they were very good priced, so if you're looking into a higher end pen but are on a budget, this is the place to have a look!

The owner of the store is such a kind lady, we had a great chat about fountain pens, ink and smaller manufacturers, which she also tries to support. Also she is a fellow ink addict like me and has all the inks she carries on swatches in alphabetical order and in color groups. Makes it easier to choose the ink you want. She also sells the special Diamine Music and flower ink sets in loose bottles! I totally appreciated that and got a few bottles there in the colors I really wanted.

Another fun shop which is interesting to check out if you like alternative books and comics:

Neurotitan in the street art hotspot Haus Schwarzenberg on the Rosenthaler Strasse.

The shop is packed full with alternative books, records, zines and original artworks by indie artists. It was not allowed to take pictures in the shop, but all the better to go and look for yourself! The street art there is absolutely wonderful and you can sit down and have a beer or two to relax and enjoy the green oasis and art!

And this concludes my shopping tour through Berlin. I'll leave you with one more tip for a sweet treat: you can get the most wonderful scones at Café µ in the aria of Friederichshein which is an aria known for alternative shops and fun places to eat and drink.
