Shopping Highlight: Traveler's Pop Up Store at Misc Store Amsterdam

From october 24th to november 24th there is a Traveler's Factory pop up store at Misc Store Amsterdam. With great goodies from Traveler's notebook and other midori items some of which are exclusive to Japan only. The picture above gives you an impression of what you can find there and you can browse through my flickr album to see the close up pictures of exclusive goods there. 

This weekend 7th and 8th of november they have a special "Traveler's Company Caravan make your own spiral notebook" event!  An array of delicious papers to choose from to make your very own unique notebook! It's definitely fun to do and I'm planning on standing in line tomorrow :)

Paper goodness!

A little while back Misc Store Amsterdam announced they had a sample sale and of course I had no chance of resisting, even though it was straight after the pen show and I was sort of cash depleted. I am glad I went because they had so many wonderful paper goodies for sale (and even some ink too!) So I came home with a stack of Midori notebooks and Le Typographe stationery to try!

From left to right: maruman eco spiral notebook, Midori MD notebooks regular and light, 2 types of le Typographe letterpads, notebook and envelopes, and yes those are alpaca's post it's on the top right :) 

The Maruman Mnemosyne goods I got at a different source, the pen store nl, and I read that it's close to midori and tomoe river paper. Also not pictured on the pile though, I bought the Mnemosyme word cards  as they are awesome for ink swabs and I just had to try that out.

Fist impressions on the Maruman paper is that it is definitely nice and smooth, holds fountain pen ink well, and is very pleasant to write on. Also quite affordable. The blue eco B5 7mm ruling note book for instance is 1,50€ for 30 sheets (on sale at this time). Also the small sketch book is awesome for mail art endeavors with fountain pen inks! This water color paper hold up ink quite well. I have been doing some ink-speriments on them and I can't wait to show you :)

I will post my findings on the paper goods when get the chance to I test them more and compare them to each other.

Midori Goodies Galore!

This great pack of goodies I received from Misc Store as a thank you for making them a Yellow/Orange Color Chart Wheel. A single sheet cutter with ceramic blade, Midori stationery set, MT tape and heart stickers, photo post it notes , Cherry Blossom D-clips and the Pan Am Travelser's Notebook stickers. They are not widely available in Europe so I am esp. grateful for those. Thanks so much for the goodies Brigitta! I can't wait to try out the single sheet cutter! will be a great use for cutting out masks for my mail art!

Also these paperclips are just SO PRETTY!!

Color Chart Wheels

A little while back in my post on Misc Store Amsterdam I mentioned I had a great idea how to use the Ticket List booklets (the biotop sable 58.07) from Le Typograph. Well, they make an Inkophile's life so much easier as you can make these Color Chart Wheels with them. I started off with my fave color. Guess what that is?

The process:

Little nano-alpaca is carefully helping me choose the color gradient.

Then it's swabbing time! Q-tips are used well in this house hold!

I write down the manufacturer and color of ink underneath each swab. And some 'figure eights' for fun.

The end result:

I love how you can fan these out as wheels! The plastic ring is holds the stubs together very well. The paper is really sturdy and you could use the backsides of the ticket stubs as well.  

The use of these Color Chart Wheels is awesome. You can discover which inks matches to each other and with that also find a good replacement for an ink that is discontinued. Like Caran d'Ache Caribbean Sea for instance. Very close match to Diamine Marine.

 I have made a yellow/orange one as well and my plan is to make a rainbow out of these chart wheels.

This one will be on display at the Misc Store soon :)

Shopping Highlight: Misc Store Amsterdam

 

Not five minutes walk from where I used to live in Amsterdam-West I found this gem of a store; Miscellaneous. Located on de Clerqstraat 130, it's a heaven for for stationery lovers like me. I first visited it in january to get my midori pocket planner refills and whenever I am in the aria I just have to take a peek inside the store as they frequently have new stuff on display.
