Stampotique Originals August 2017 New releases!

It's the first of the month and that means there are six new stamp releases from Stampotique Originals! And today I am sharing a card I made with a bunch of them.

It's a card for someone who has been traveling a long time and returned to the neighborhood. It's super fun and whimsical and love how this chaos came all together into this card. This month's releases combine together really well :)

The bricks in the houses are made this this I-stencil and modeling paste on graphite colored paper. I then misted with bricks with green and red Tattered angels glimmer chalk mist. The houses were stamped on a piece of gelli printed tomoe river paper then cut out and I paper pieced the whole scene together. It was a pretty fun and interesting challenge for me to create a scene like this.

Mail Art Monday: 'Ello

'ello my dears - hope you are doing well on this fine Monday! It's time for another Mail Art Monday and I am sharing a postcard I have made recently. It's for a swap on Swap-Bot for the Hand Made Postcard group. Theme was to make a postcard using a book page in your design. As you can see, I used a book page for the background. I used a handmade stencil made from Tim Holtz Mixed Media dies and sennelier watercolors in greens and blues. Then added some gold and white spatters. The edges are stamped with the knitted border from Dylusions stamps and added the black soot crayon around those outer edges.

The focal point, you might have recognized from this video as I was trying to see which of the ladies would fit better at that page. This one didn't go in that art journal page, but she does look very striking here, wouldn't you say? I gave her more color using wink of stella markers, so she also had a bit of shimmer in her. The sentiment was supposed to say "hello" as it was a negative from the TH sizzix words die cut, but the "h" got cut off and well I like the whimsy this adds to the piece.

By the way, the woman is a stamp from the clear stamp set "with the right hat" from Dyslusions. I really love the line art of this stamp set and stamping it on a piece of gelli printed paper, makes it even more fun.

SDC278 - Use tape

This is the second week of the "Use Tape" challenge over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge blog. You can use any type of tape in your project and I have made this card to share with you. For tape I used my new Jane Davenport masking tape from the fantastical set. I thought the mermaids would go so well together with the images from the mini sea life cube, which is a new release this month. The words, "dreamy, wishful, lovely, magical" are also from the tape set and I believe they do represent Stampotique Originals rubber stamps very well :) The center word is from Hashtags and I have also used Texture cube in my background (I nearly always use this stamp, it's so wonderful!).

A close up of the card.  The sea life is stamped on smooth marker paper and colored with alcohol markers. Fussy cut and adhered. The background is made with a stencil from crafter's workshop, sprayed some deco arts mixed media spray in cyan over it, then some lindy's magicals turbine teal for some shimmer, dry brushed some patina green over some bits for some variation.

Aren't they just super adorable, the teeny sea horses! And as you can see, I have not fussy cut them all over, colored the aria around the spikes with blue, so they would blend in better.

Mail Art Monday: Snow in July

Over at Stampotique this fortnight we have a challenge for you to use your tape. I often use it to put it under an image to "ground" them on the page. I have done that with this postcard as well. I've used Cloy from the July new releases combined with this wonderful quote from  Mark Twain. Cloy is such a fun and interesting image! The background is a typewritten book page which I swiped through distress stains and after it dried I spattered some white and gold liquitex paints over it. It looks like its snowing on a warm july day... but cloy seems to be cold none the less ;) Don't forget to link up your project if you make something to fit the theme :)

Art Journal: She left a Sparkle (+ new process video!)

Today I wanted to share a page from my Junk Mail Art Journal. I have also filmed the process and would love to share that with you here as well. I wanted to use the stamps I had bought a while back but not used at all which were the dress form stamps you see in the back. Also a few new to me ARTploration stencils from STAMPlorations were used. The focal point is the woman stamped on the gelli printed paper. Well, you can see how it all came together here:

There were some bits I was struggling with, I wanted to have the dress form popping out and that took a few tries but got there in the end. I also muted the colors down a bit because I didn't want to take away from my focal point as she was very bright and colorful too. With these art journal pages I create I learn something new every time. Glad I can share this journey with you :)

So these dress forms are showing a shape of the "ideal" female figure. Most women feel compelled to "get into shape" and working towards having these hourglass figures. Believe me you don't need to, you have your sparkle no matter what shape you are built in.
