WOYWW 463: the aftermath of Art Specially 2018

Desk shot 18042018
This past weekend was one of the favorites I had of the year (so far ;) as it was time for the yearly ART Specially mixed media event. This time we (yes my husband likes to accompany me for these crafty events, when he is able to) only went on Saturday, but what a day it was! So many wonderful people (got to meet some of my wonderful Stampotique DT mates Yvonne & Arwen!), doing workshops and getting all the supplies you've always wanted for a really good deal. So this week's desk shot for WOYWW 463 is mostly showing off my new stuff haha ;) On top of the glass mat the projects made; learned a new stitch for book binding in a workshop provided by Art Specially and cards we made at the AALL and Create booth. Autour and Olga were there doing some demo's and their stamps are just amazing! I also got to see some sneak peaks of their new stamp designs coming up later this month :) The glass mat is something I've always wanted and so happy to finally have it! And by all the mess around it, you can see I have been happily using it already :)

Spoils from yesterday at @artspecially event at Nijkerk yesterday. Was such an amazing day meeting wonderful people and lots of new stuff to try out! #artspecially #mixedmediatechniques #mixedmedia #aallandcreate #artsupplies #craftaholic #creativejourney
And this is the full haul shot and I can't wait to play with all of them! I already played with the elegant writer, paper collage people and some of the AALL and Create stamps. Results will be at some point for sure. But I can show you this:

Saturday at the @artspecially event one of the workshops was bookbinding. Since the focus was the binding technique, the cover was left blank. I finished making the cover today. Used @gelliarts prints with @stencilgirl_products stencils, @katzelkraft stam
The art journal I made during the bookbinding workshop. We didn't have time to make the cover on the event, but I completed it last Monday. Used gelli prints made with Stencil Girl Stencils/masks, Katzelkraft stamps and vintage magazine clippings.

It was definitely a great day and also a wonderful distraction from all the events that happened over the last few weeks. My dad passed away on the 6th of April and we had the funeral on the 12th. I talk a bit about it on my Present and Connected instagram account if you're interested in reading more about it. But all I can say that it was as peaceful as it could be and he's now lying next to my mom at eternal rest. I also wanted to say thanks to everyone whom commented on my post a few weeks ago, about the situation with my dad then. It was heartwarming to read them and feeling support from miles away. Thank you wholeheartedly.

Hope all you deskers' out there are having a wonderful wednesday.  (For people who don't know who the desker's are, check out Julia's blog to see more about it.)

Thanks you for stopping by. It's a beautiful spring day here and hope you all are enjoying it :)

  2. Hi there. I'm sorry to see about your dad. It takes time to think about and grieve, and I trust your memories are good and fun.
You had a fantastic day out - and found loads of wonderful new things to play... er, create... with! Glad it was such a good day. I went to a craft show three days after my hubby died 19 months ago - it was so special - went with a friend, a day of laughter and tears all mixed up. No idea what anyone else thought... but never mind!
    Take care. God bless.

I hope you're taking extra care fo yourself as these weeks after the funeral are when grief catches up with you. I'm so glad you went to the art event, I absolutely adore those moon cards in the first pic, wow they're amazing.

  6. I love looking at your photos. Mixed media is so fascinating! I was trying to figure out where you are that you are having spring weather. Chicago is still cold and snowy! We're hoping to get to spring soon. Sorry for your loss. Have a good week.

  7. Hugely sorry for your loss girlfriend, and deeply grateful for the peace that surrounded your father. It doesnt fill the hole that he leaves but it really does help with the initial shock of it all. Am delighted by your haul at the weekend, you were very inspired I must say, to come home and finish the journal covers. I like to work on a glass mat, but have to say - yours is much bigger than mine!!

  11. Oh heck! Why did I not know you were in Nijkirk at the weekend? I was there too! Both days! Next year maybe? We went on to Amersfoort and saw the end of the choir festival so it was a fabulous trip to the Netherlands.
Love your haul - half if which I never saw - where was I?
What a shame we didn't swap atc's - I didn't know about the "meet" until Sunday. My lack of the Dutch language certainly gets in the way as I also didn't know how to sign up for workshops.
So glad your dad went peacefully and surrounded by his family line. United again with your mother.
Love to you and yours Cheetarah

  12. Thank you for visiting me this week. I’m just playing catch up with a few blogs I missed yesterday.
I’m so very sorry to hear about your dad....they are very special people aren’t they and leave huge voids when they die? I love your new stash and am certain a bit of creativity will work like therapy.

  13. Ooh I am so sorry for your loss, and I have to say you are the first person I have seen with a glass mat on their desk. ( do you love it?)
it makes sense to me the way the panels are split up but, I stamp on a plastic folding table that is concave so, because its not perfectly flat that makes me wonder if a flat glass mat would work or if I would just be rocking it every time I tried to do anything. ( paper pad mats conform to the table curves haha) Thanks for the earlier visit, ~Stacy #33
